Seattle Space Needle

Seattle Space Needle

I think what amazed me most about the Seattle Space needle was that it was built for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. I just don't think of anything during that period as being so high tech.

I guess what was happening during the 'space race' as proclaimed by JFK.

The Space Needle has a very interesting history that started with the inspiration by the President of a hotel chain that started with a drawing on a placemat in a coffee house.

Snoqualmie Falls Redwood Tree

Dad standing in front of a Snoqualmie Falls Redwood Tree

On my recent trip to Seattle, my dad and I ventured to Snoqualmie Falls. On the ride back, we missed the turn off for the interstate.

It was a fortunate occurrence because we discovered George's Bakery in North Bend. (Yummy glazed donuts). We also discovered the Snoqualmie Centennial Pavilion that housed a massive slice of a redwood tree.

You can tell the tree is pretty big, but considering my dad is about 6'4", it gives it an even greater sense of perspective.

Sometimes, getting lost is the best way to find great things.

Pike Place Market - Fresh Fish

Pike Place Market Sign
I recently made a trip to Seattle with my dad for a wedding. As part of our trip, we made the trip to Pike Place Market. It is an incredible place. The sign outside of the building is pretty famous.

I loved the sign for Fresh Fish inside of the market.

Snoqualmie Falls from Twin Peaks

Snoqualmie Falls from Twin Peaks

I made a trip to Seattle with my dad for a family wedding. On Saturday, we went to Snoqualmie Falls about 20 miles outside of Seattle. What I hadn't realized until we go there is that is was the famous falls from Twin Peaks.

Are you old enough to remember that show?

At any rate, it was a really beautiful day and we managed to catch a rainbow on the river from the slight misting rain that was falling that day.

St. Patrick's Day In Cleveland

St. Patrick's Day Reveler In Cleveland

The weather is amazing and people are out in full green dress.

I particularly like the little hat this man had on. Of course, he was probably text messaging his friends to make plans for later today. Did I mention that I took this while I was out at lunch?

Grilleded Chicken Sandwiches

Sign with Grilleded Chicken

While I was getting money from the ATM at the Harbor Inn (Cleveland's Oldest Bar), I noticed this menu sign.

Not only was Grilled Chicken spelled incorrectly, someone actually put 'Spelling Check' on the sign.

Ah - the good old days of manual editing.

Eccentric Women Peering Out Window

Eccentric Women Peering Out Window

It is hard to believe that I took this photo in Chipotle. I guess great pictures come to wherever you are.

This woman had gotten into a quiet disagreement with the gentleman she was with. I had tried to snap a picture of her when she was further away, but my camera phone zoom wasn't the greatest.

As luck would have it, she walked away from the man and sat right in front of me. I quickly pretended to be sending a text message and took her picture.

Small favors.

Dog Lost in Tremont

Ok - I didn't take this picture, but a co-worker sent a request because she found a dog that looks like this in Tremont. If you know the owner, please pass the information along.

Good morning Linda.
I know you blog about tremont and I was wondering if you could do me a favor.
I found a stray dog this morning on Scranton and Brevier and I was wondering if you could blog about it.

Attached is a picture of the kind of dog it is.
I believe it was a female with a purple collar and blue leash.
She was under weight but was still friendly.

I dropped her off at the cleveland kennel on west 7th in tremont.
Hopefully her owners will find her.

Thanks for your help!

Barley House in Cleveland

The Crest outside of Barley House restaurant in Cleveland

It is no secret that I love Ireland. I have posted pictures from Dublin several times on this blog.

So you can imagine my excitement when I discovered that an Irish pub was opening on West6th Street where I work. They have been working on the Barley House for weeks, but it seems like they have gotten the place together to open for St. Paddy's Day.

The paper was off the glass and the menu was in the window. It seems like they were be ready for the wearing of the green. They will be having kegs and eggs at 7:30 am - definitely a good start.

Some Cultural Music in the Subway

Some Cultural Music in the Subway

On the trip to San Francisco, we finally broke down and tool the metro subway to the Castro. It was just too far to walk there in the time we had.

While we were trying to get exact change for the Metra machine (trust me it is hard if you have a $5 bill), we got to listen to this band play.

Unfortunately, the guitar player broke a string and had to change it. However, the band kept the show going.

They were pretty good.

Tap on Your Toes

San Francisco Tap Dancer on his toes

Before betting on the metro subway in San Francisco, we stopped for a moment to watch some tap dancers. I had shot of couple of pictures, but I liked this one because I managed to catch him when he was on his toes

I also managed to shoot some video the tap dancer as well.
