Elephant Scratches Her Toes

While I was looking through the pictures that I shot at the zoo, I noticed that the elephant in this one is 'scratching' her toe.

I took the picture because she was eating (notice the hay in her curled trunk).


How do I know it is a female? Most zoos will not have male elephants. They are so strong and can be very aggressive. Apparently, there are not enclosures that can hold them.

I managed to get some video of the elephant.
