Floozie In the Jacuzzi

In Dublin, there used to be a statue of Anna Livia. She is a character from Finnegan's Wake. The local's lovingly call her the floozy in the jacuzzi.

When I was in Charleston and we were doing the Gateway Walk, we noticed this statue. I instantly called it the Floozy in the Jacuzzi.

My friend Ky decided to take some liberties with the photograph and the statue.

In all of our silliness, neither of us bother to see what the statue was. Oops!

Magnolias in Charleston

In every city, there are a few restaurants that are considered institutions. The thing I really love about the south is how these restaurants look. You would never come across a pink building in Cleveland that didn't look out of place.

I guess there is somethign to be said for using a color that only looks better when it gets sun soaked. Although I didn't have time to go to this restaurant (a pretty big regret), everyone who talked about it spoke with raving reviews.

It is always good to have a reason to go back and visit, I guess.

Boats on Sullivan's Island Beach

During my recent trip to Charleston, I was lucky enough to have friends who lived in town and showed me around. On my last night there, I took a water taxi to Mt. Pleasant where they meet me en route to Sullivan's Island.

After a great dinner at Poe, we headed to the beach for a short walk and so that I could dip my toes in the ocean. It was a really beautiful beach.

I always love seeing boats on the beach because it makes me think that you could instantly sail away.

Charleston Gateway Walk - St. Philips Cemetery

While touring through Charleston, my friend and I decided to follow the Gateway Walk. It is a free walking tour through some very prominent landmarks.

Even better, the tour walkway cuts through a series of churches and narrow pathways. It feels a bit like you are cutting through yards when you are a kid.

Big 'Ole Basil Bunches

While I was at the Charleston Farmers' Market, I noticed this sign as we were leaving.

I like this picture for a couple of reasons. I not only like it because the chalk board feels a bit down home, but the language on the board helps it really connect to the fact that this is a Southern farmers market, y'all.

Marion Square Farmers' Market in Charleston

While I was in Charleston, I stayed at the Francis Marion Hotel. Directly across the street was Marion Square. On Saturday, there is a great Farmer's Market.

There was some great music, homemade pies, great artists selling their wares and, most of all, the great local farmers who brought their produce and vegetables to the market.

I shot this photo when my friend was waiting in line to buy some YUMMY peaches.

Lowcountry Townhouse in Charleston

While I was in Charleston, I walked all over town. One of the things that I really loved about the city was the brightly painted houses.

There is a famous area of town called Rainbow Row, however, I really felt that is orange townhouse was one of the best ones in town. It is also very typical and has a lovely palmetto tree in front of it.

Since South Carolina is the Palmetto State, I thought it was fitting.

Sailing off the Coast Of Charleston

In an effort to meet my friends at an earlier time, I decided to take the Water Taxi over to Mt. Pleasant. While I was on the boat, this lovelu sail boat went by us.

I really loved Charleston and it was great to be able to be on the water and go to the beach.

I am visiting Charletson in South Carolina. This photo was shot out of my hotel window. I am on the 10th floor of the Francis Marion Hotel. It has a great view of the city and the water. Just beyong the church is one of the bridges that go between the barrier islands.
