Epcot Lake at Sundown

While on a recent work trip to Orlando, I was fortunate enough to squeeze in a visit to Disney Epcot before the conference started.

I had posted an image of the Terracotta Army a few days ago, but I really loved this image of the lake at Epcot at sundown. The lights for the China section of the park really make the the reflection on the water look lovely.

Nothing better than seeing pink clouds at sunset when you know your co-workers are brushing snow off of their cars.

Traffic on the Carter Road Bridge

Although I generally walk to work, I decided to drive today because of the threat of rain. I enjoy a good walk, but not a wet one when I have to be at work all day.

At any rate, it was a little before 8am and I found some traffic on my way over the Carter Avenue Bridge. It seems like there is a lot more traffic since the closing of lanes due to the issues with the Inner Belt Bridge

At any rate, it gave me an opportunity to snap a picture and get the little office that is on the bridge with their TV cameras. I always think it would be an interesting job to be a man in the box, raising and lowering the bridge and watching the traffic go by. Boring, but interesting.

Subscribers Rule

One of our graphic designers has been working on a project for ExactTarget called Subscribers Rule. It is a great initiative to get email marketers to think of the people they market to via email as people not just a list.

I was fortunate enough to attend a conference about this earlier in the year and some of the swag from the meetings made it back to the office. I though there was a nice symmetry since the designer working on it had one of the foam fingers at his desk.

It was also a great way to sneak a photo of our designer, Chris Yanc.

Urban Garden Eggplant

On my daily walk to work, I go past a small urban garden. I have watched this small patch of earth all summer long.

It has going from a patch of rough earth to an area with several gardens that have been built from scratch - including the garden boxes.

I have noticed in the past few weeks, these gardens are starting to bear fruit. The garden has the typical vegetables such as carrots and tomatoes, but I just noticed the eggplants the other day.

I am not the biggest fan of eating eggplant, but I love their color. It is such a rich and wonderful purple.

Nap in the Park

One the way home from lunch the other afternoon, I was walking through the Lincoln Park in Tremont. I noticed this person was sleeping on a bench.

Since I have been taking photos of people sleeping in public places for years, I quickly grabbed my cell phone and snapped a camera. This photo reminds me of a photo I shot in the town square in Alexandria, Virginia in early 2002.

Ironically, I don't have any of the photos from this series scanned or online. I think that might be a good project for this weekend.

Coffee Cop

As I was walking into work this morning, I noticed two police officers walking into Starbucks. The other officer was sitting on his bike drinking his coffee. I really wanted a photo of the cop with the Starbucks cup, but admittedly was afraid of being spotted taking his picture.

I snapped a quick photo. Unfortunately, I didn't like the composition of the shot with the three police motorcycles, so I cropped the photo to have the main part of the picture be the police officer sitting on his bike.

As I was editing this photograph, I noticed how strange the sky looked. I guess the bright sunlight was blowing out the exposure on my cell phone camera.

Chalk Talk

When I started this project, I was still writing a blog for the World Tour of Beer. I am still doing that, but it seems like the photo project has taken a lot more of my attention than I had originally planned.

Now, due to the cold weather, I am struggling with content for either one. As you know, it is good to recycle, so I thought I would recycle this photo I took in January. The friends who participate in the World Tour of Beer with me are big fans of the game Cornhole. We often have tournaments outside. Since the weather has gotten colder, I have resorted to mere threats on their prowess.

Browns Football Walkway

After lunch today, I took a stroll with one of my co-workers. Although it is still cold outside, the break from the single digit temperatures was a nice one.

We decided to head toward the stadium. Instead of doing the complete loop, we took a walkway that cuts across the local road and the train tracks and cuts about 5 blocks off of the loop. As we were walking, I noticed this bridge with the football field markings on it.

I thought it was an interesting setup in a very hidden place. Only fans who have walked on this pathway would notice the ground was painted like a football field and there was a sign with goal posts saying thanks to the fans. It was also ironic timing since the Super Bowl was yesterday. The deserted walkway feels representative of stadiums around the country that will now sit empty until next season.

Great things are hidden around every corner.

Finding the Way to The Map Room

During the summer and fall months, my co-worker and I spent a lot of time at The Map Room. Young Adam (that's what I call him) and I spent a lot of time canoodling about everything. We talked about your jobs, our lives, the world in general.

There were some great evening when we and some other office mates were at the Map Room having a few beers. It seems like a long time since we have been there - I want to say it was either early December. I am thinking that soon it is going to be Map Room time again.

I don't need to worry, our office administrator drew me a map after I had a failed attempt to take a short cut through a gated parking lot. Live and learn.
