Shadow of Carter Road Bridge on Cuyahoga

Shadow of Carter Road Bridge on CuyahogaLast year, I had part of a tree fall on my garage during a wicked wind storm that took out some other trees in the neighborhood. So this morning, I had to take photos of my repaired garage and send them to the insurance company.

While I was downloading the pictures, I realized I had forgotten that I had taken this photo from the Carter Road bridge when I was walking home last Friday. The impression of the bridge shadow was really strong on the river. I had never really seen it like that before. It kind of took me by surprise.

Luckily, I had my camera and was able to get this shot. I love how the Cuyahoga water actually looks blue in some spots because of the shadows.

Panoramic View of Friedlander

Panoramic Photo of the Friedlander Photo Exhibit

In my opinion, there are two great things to do on a rainy Sunday afternoon: 1) sit around with your friend and drink beer or 2) go to the museum.

Since I am currently in a dry spell, I decided to go to Friedlander photo exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Art.

It was a great exhibit and it was Free. Definitely factors that contributed to my enjoyment. I have to give credit to the curator of the exhibit because the layout of the exhibit was very compelling. I felt like I wanted to soon from sensory impact as soon as I walked into the exhibit.

Even better was this incredible wave of photos that was along the back wall of the exhibit. It was a style that I had never seen before in a museum. I was very excited that my cell phone has a panoramic setting to take photos.

I would highly recommend this exhibit not only because Friedlander is a great photographer or that it is massive, he is a very approachable photographer and exhibits that 'perfection' is not always the most interesting way to make a photograph.

April Showers in Cleveland

Photo of April Snow Showers in Cleveland

I thought the saying went "April Showers bring May Flowers" - but I don't think they were talking about snow showers.

It is enough to make you stay inside and drink another pint of Guinness.

Dick's Hamburgers - A Seattle Institution

During my trip to Seattle, I had spotted this joint right away as we were driving through the neighborhood where we were staying. On the way back to the hotel after the wedding we attended, my dad and cousin and I stopped for some hamburgers.

Dick's Hamburger in Seattle

Apparently, Dick's is a Seattle institution. Known for its milk shakes and quick service. It was super speedy and hit the spot at the end of the night.

Seattle Space Needle

Seattle Space Needle

I think what amazed me most about the Seattle Space needle was that it was built for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. I just don't think of anything during that period as being so high tech.

I guess what was happening during the 'space race' as proclaimed by JFK.

The Space Needle has a very interesting history that started with the inspiration by the President of a hotel chain that started with a drawing on a placemat in a coffee house.

Snoqualmie Falls Redwood Tree

Dad standing in front of a Snoqualmie Falls Redwood Tree

On my recent trip to Seattle, my dad and I ventured to Snoqualmie Falls. On the ride back, we missed the turn off for the interstate.

It was a fortunate occurrence because we discovered George's Bakery in North Bend. (Yummy glazed donuts). We also discovered the Snoqualmie Centennial Pavilion that housed a massive slice of a redwood tree.

You can tell the tree is pretty big, but considering my dad is about 6'4", it gives it an even greater sense of perspective.

Sometimes, getting lost is the best way to find great things.
