Fresh Veggies in Tremont

Fresh Veggies in Tremont

It was one of those days. Good days. It seemed that there were so many photo opportunities in the few blocks that surround my house.

I came across a front yard decorating in celebration of the Obama victory, I noticed a ton of new sign guy signs (to come later) and I noticed this odd little farm stand outside of one the houses.

The house didn't look like it had a big yard for a small garden, but the owner might be part of one of the many community gardens throughout the city.

Sign Guy Sign Spotted at Adcom

Sign Guy Sign Spotted at Adcom

This morning, I was talking with a co-worker from Adcom, our traditional, sister agency to Optiem.

When I ventured into her office, I noticed this sign. Of course, I recognized it as a Sign Guy sign. I have posted a few of his works from around Tremont before - and some other graffiti artists.

Ironically, I saw him hanging a new sign a few weeks ago and really wanted to take a picture of it, but I was driving in my car and thought it might be nice for him to remain anonymous.

Sign Guy Signs Keep Popping Up in Tremont

Sign Guy Signs Keep Popping Up in TremontOne of the things I like about the Sign Guy signs it that they are everywhere. They tend to pop up in unusual places. A lot of them are relatively hidden or in places that are bit more obscure.

The sign in the picture - I just noticed it this morning. However, I have no idea how long it has been there. This one was at the bottom of a telephone pole.

I remember having a conversation with a friend in Tremont about the signs and he had never noticed them before - he was a Tremont native. Of course, at the time, they tended to be either very high, very low or in an obscure place.

I guess it also makes me realize that most people are not very observent.

Another Sign Guy Sign

Another Sign Guy SignIn early May, I posted a photo of a Sign Guy sign. Since that time, I have discovered his myspace account. There was also a recent article about him in the Free Times.

I really enjoy finding his gems all over Tremont, and the sense of humor he often brings to a situation.

Graffiti With A Heart

As I was walking to work this morning, I noticed the walls along the industrial roadways were covered with graffiti tags. I am not a huge fan of the random tags on the wall, but occasionally I will see something that resembles art.

I passed this graffiti that was hidden in a doorway of an abandoned storage facility. It reminds me of some other graffiti that I had seen at the top of University drive.

I had passed by a sign guy sign, but the photo didn't come out that well. Maybe on my walk tomorrow, I can get a better exposure of it.

Park At Your Own Risk

I live in Tremont. It is a community that is very involved in keeping crime at a minimum. There are several block associations and a lot of people get involved in keeping it a safe neighborhood.

Even better, people will take action to give fair warning to visitors to Tremont. I think this sign serves two purposes . . one is to warn of potential theft. The other is to warn of potential tickets. There can be an increase in street ticketing during the evening hours. (Maybe because there are less donut shops open)

At any rate, you have to love a good citizen who protects through art. This one was done by the sign guy.
