Clipper Boat on the Ohio River

After a concert in Point State Park, I decided to walk home via the Fort Pitt Bridge. There is a great pedestrian walkway that goes from the Park right to the Duquesne Incline.

While I was walking home, a clipper boat came down the river and a train was coming in the distance. I took the opportunity to snap this photo of the great Ohio River - one of the less photographed views in Pittsburgh, but one of my favorites!

Fountain in Front of Union Station (DC)

Yet another in my series of photos from DC. Since I took the metro to the train station most of the time, I never really noticed the exterior of the building or the fact that there is a pretty incredible fountain in front of it.

In my defense, there is a lot of traffic and the fountain is on a relatively inaccessible island. I had to dodge a few cars to get over there.

Luckily, I had a few beers and was braver than usual (or maybe just more stupid).

Union Station in Washington DC

During my adventure to Washington, DC, I was able to walk over to the Art of Can exhibit in the rotunda of Union Station in Washington DC. I have taken the train from there to NYC a ton of times, but generally, I was in a rush and really didn't notice how incredible the building is. I had also taken the metro there most of the time and didn't walk through the front door of the building.

The artistry and architecture of old trains stations always amazes me.

Sleeping on the Train

I decided to start posting photos from my ShutterEye series. My last post was a woman sleeping in the park.

This photo was taken while I was on an Amtrak train from Chicago to Pittsburgh. I really like taking the train when the distance isn't too far. There is so much to see inside the train and outside of the window.

While I was sitting there for the 6.5 hours of the trip, I glanced across and noticed the man in the seat across the aisle had fallen asleep. I snapped up my camera and grabbed this shot.

It was so sunny outside, the background is totally blown out through the windows.

Tremont Tressel Bridge

I have previously mentioned that I really enjoy the bridges of Cleveland. I posted a photo of this tressel bridge a few weeks ago. Yesterday, I noticed a train going across it on my drive home. I know this was a working bridge, but I had never seen a train cross it.

I tried to quickly pull over a get a great shot of the engine steaming across the front of the bridge. It didn't really work out that way. I did manage to get a photo of it heading across the river.

The sky in the background did not come out well because I hadn't taken the time to set the exposure correctly. I decided to convert it to black and white instead. The other photo I snapped of the bridge came out with a much better balance, but the train is not so visible on the bridge.
